Tablet OS Concept by spiceofdesign Tablet OS Concept by spiceofdesign
Version one of a tablet operating system concept. All applications would be maximised (screen 1). The user would switch applications or launch and close them by pressing a home button (taking them to screen two). They could then launch them using the app in the third screen.

Future plans include adding support for notifications and making the bottom screenshot look more like slingshot.

Feedback would be appreciated.

If only we were so blessed. Someday soon we'll have our own mobile platform, I hope. Very crisp, concise mockup- I like where it's going.

I think sliding/swiping the application closed like the Meego N9 would be a much more elegant system.

I'm not familiar with that. I'm also not sure about current gestures support in linux.

those square icons would look nice in Luna, any plans on making a square variant for elementary OS?

I really like the way that the application is integrated with the top panel, looks awesome. Due to the elementary project encouraging AppMenu buttons it makes it a whole lot more touch friendly than Unity with the "global menu". Please keep working with this because it looks so slick and if it had support for regular debian/ubuntu applications it would be beyond my favourite Tablet OS!

How can I close apps (like midori), or hide an app, to open an other? how can I switch between apps?

You would press some sort of home button, which would take you to the middle screen where you can close it by clicking the x next to its name, switch apps by clicking on another one that is open or open another one by clicking the plus icon.

That looks amazing. Would be good to show a mockup for a decent on screen keyboard as unless I've missed something all the Linux based ones are ugly as sin.

Thanks, it's not quite finished yet, so I may mock up a keyboard yet.

Search in slingshot? And the close button should be in wingpanel I think. And in the second screen the title and close button be above the window preview with the close button on the left.

The slingshot mock up was me being lazy, like I didn't include categories either. I'll finish it off tomorrow, and move the titles above the windows.

Great concept! I think you should talk to Dan Rabbit to make an "Elementary OS Netbook/Tablet" :) The third screenshot is OK, I only miss application filtering by kind of application (Internet, Graphics, Office...) Keep on the good work!

That was me being lazy. It would actually be the same as slingshot as feature in this video here: [link]
